My name is Meagan
and I own a small specialty bakery in the Detroit area. I make homemade confections and old timey favorites. I’m married to my childhood mega crush who happens to be a sexy Detroit Fireman. I’m also a mama to the cutest boy in town! I create lovely dessert tables for special events like weddings, showers, and any other party you can think of. Please like me on facebook (and in real life too! i have a lot of self esteem issues… lol) at facebook.com/bluebirdsnest
I look forward to making your day a sweet one!
The Bluebird’s Nest started as a blog. An outlet for my rambling thoughts about cooking, motherhood, marriage, and life in general. I would share my dinner photos and some recipes. I desperately wanted the wild success of The Pioneer Woman but then I remembered I didn’t live on a cattle ranch in Oklahoma and so I stuck to what I knew which turned out to be not that much. Ha!
I took my friends and family with me as I grew in my knowledge of baking and cooking. My failures led to triumphs in the kitchen and eventually people started asking me if I would make food for their special events. I would give my nervous “yes” and pipe frosting with shaking hands fearing that the person would be sorry they asked me to make their cupcakes or cake or cookies. Much to my surprise, people actually raved about the things I’d make. My confidence slowly increased and I began to advertise food for sale and saw a lot of orders coming my way. I’ve done weddings, grad parties, birthdays, anniversaries, and so much more. I’m really grateful for the faith others have had in me. It has given me faith in myself.
A few years ago, our family moved from a little condominium in the suburbs to a farmhouse on 6 acres in a rural area of Michigan. We got chickens and ducks and planted a garden alongside our dreams and watched everything grow. It’s been a learning experience and I know we will never stop learning. I wouldn’t want it any other way. I want to bring you all with me again as I start a new journey. I have dreams of using our hobby farm as a place of home and hospitality not just for our family, but for you and your family too. We are starting seasonal supper clubs and fun family events this year. We kicked it off with a Valentine dinner followed by a Mother Daughter Tea, and there’s more to come.
Home isn’t a place. It’s a feeling and I want you to feel it whenever you’re here. Come and be yourself… just as you were, just as you are, just as you always will be. Welcome home.
